ABOUT ME
Growing up in a theatrical family, my biggest rebellion aged 18, was to run away from the ‘circus’ to a 9–5 copy-writing job in advertising. I soon regretted my impulsive behaviour and enlisted my newfound skills on a golf ball Olivetti to type up audition speeches, and my lunch breaks to audition for drama schools. In September 1993 I started at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
On graduation, I joined the company at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre. Then on to Merchant Ivory’s ‘Maurice’, Hugh Grant’s first film. and ‘The Deceivers’, opposite Pierce Brosnan, on location in Rajasthan, India. Much TV and film work followed; In Bali with Ben Gazarra, Munich with George Miller, Ukraine with Pete Postlethwaite, Elizabeth Hurly and Sean Bean - and Croydon with Michael Palin.
Becoming a mother in 1991 changed my focus. Seeking to use my skills in a different capacity, I joined 'Personal Presentation', whose methodology is based on the science and art of the theatre.
In paralell I completed an Advanced Diploma in Interrogative Counselling - CBT and Transactional Analysis, and volunteered for Cruse Bereavement Care.
In 2011, I co-founded Shiny Pin Productions with writer /director (and husband) Simon David Eden.
My work as a Communications Coach for ‘Personal Presentation’ has taken me back into the corporate world, which alongside my role as actress, producer and sounding board for Shiny Pin Productions – does mean it is no longer 9-5, more like 24-7!
